'Oz' Prequel Pays Black-And-White Tribute To 'Oz' Original
Sam Raimi is making a prequel to "The Wizard of Oz," in case you forgot. It's a 3D prequel, too, and it's called "Oz The Great and Powerful," about the formative days of the titular wizard's rule over the kingdom. As the original movie is such a hallowed entry in the canon, Raimi's got to be very careful about how he approaches any new material. One of the movie's stars, Joey King, told TeenSpot.com how the new movie will pay homage. "Were doing the same thing as the first Wizard of Oz, were making it black and white in the beginning and then (it gets) colorful when we enter the Land of Oz," she said. "Its also going to be a 3D movie; Im so excited about that. Its going to add a whole new level to the awesomeness of Oz." She also discusses working on set ("amazing; it's breathtaking"), while giving some insight about her character. "I play Wheelchair Girl and China Girl. Wheelchair Girl is in Kansas and China Girl is my main character, shes in most of the movie," she said. "Shes really fun shes sassy. She lost her family when the Wicked Witches came in. Now, Oz sort of becomes her adopted father." We're not sure if we're following 100% of the way, but she seems excited enough. "Oz" will supposedly drop on March 8, 2013, which means a trailer should arrive sometime in the next six months. Can't wait! Tell us what you think in the comments and on Twitter!
